Primary objective
The Stakeholder Engagement Manager provides high-level advice and support to executive and senior managers across the Department
of Education and Training to facilitate effective communication processes and engagement with external stakeholders.
Context statement
The position provides direct stakeholder engagement support to the Office of the Chief Executive and provides strategic advice across
the department to support key stakeholder delivery. The role oversees project plans, the development and management of stakeholder
meetings, drafting high-level documents such as memorandums, ministerial correspondence, and agendas, as well as speech notes,
presentations, and communications with an eye for quality and style requirements. The position also supports communications projects
within the team.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Facilitates the implementation of key internal and external stakeholder engagement strategies to support the department's priorities.
2. Provide timely and quality information and advice, including written and verbal briefings, to executive and senior managers.
3. Develop, organise, and facilitate the annual Chief Executive stakeholder engagement program.
4. Develops, organises, and facilitates documents for key stakeholder meetings, provides responses to queries and engages weekly with
key groups.
5. Monitors and analyses internal and external feedback and facilitates the development of appropriate actions and responses to ensure
ongoing positive engagement.
6. Implements the actions and deliverables from the Stakeholder Engagement Framework, provide strategic advice and develop
guidelines for the department's relationship managers to support key stakeholder delivery.
7. Builds and maintains positive professional networks with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the department is well placed
to implement key strategies and improvements as well as provide two-way conversations.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven high level oral and written communications skills, including the ability to write clearly and succinctly to develop meeting
documents, presentations, communications strategies, and Ministerial correspondence.
2. Proven high level interpersonal, collaborative, and problem-solving skills demonstrating the ability to build, nurture and sustain positive
industry and stakeholder relationships, and communicate with influence.
3. Highly developed influencing and relationship management skills with capability to work cooperatively with executive, senior
managers and other staff across schools and corporate areas.
4. Interpersonal and networking skills with the ability to liaise and communicate effectively at all levels in a variety of contexts and
diverse cultures.
5. High level of motivation and flexibility with a demonstrated ability to maximise effectiveness and operate with a high level of
autonomy.
6. Extensive knowledge of processes for the development and dissemination of engagement strategies and messages within a public
sector context.
7. Respect for confidentiality with a high degree of sensitivity to complex situations and political issues.
Desirable
1. Qualifications in a related discipline, such as in communications, stakeholder engagement, business or similar.
