The Opportunity

This is the perfect opportunity for a qualified and experienced Building Designer wanting to join Brisbane's most creative and award-winning residential design team.

Based on Brisbane's Northside, JMH Design services clients across all areas of Brisbane and surrounding coastal regions, delivering high-end renovations and custom new home designs that are both creative and buildable. You will be managing your own projects from concept through to construction documentation, meeting clients face-to-face, and bringing your design ideas to life within a collaborative, supportive, and forward-thinking studio.

Salary is negotiable based on skills and experience, with bonus incentives available for the right candidate.

About You

You are a creative, self-motivated Building Designer with over 5 years' experience in residential design and client collaboration. You excel at combining creativity with practical design solutions that can be built. You take pride in your personal presentation, are focused, have a high attention to detail, and love to problem solve. You are looking for an opportunity to step into a senior role within a well-respected building design studio that values innovation, design quality, and team culture. Australian work rights are required for this position.

About The Role

Your role will include

  • Leading and managing design projects
  • Managing your own diary to ensure timelines and deliverables are met to JMH standards
  • Responsibility for meeting set KPI's with incentives/bonuses rewarded if KPI's are exceeded
  • Conducting client meetings (in-person & online) to build client rapport and obtain and understand the client's design brief
  • Developing concept designs, preliminary plans, and construction drawings for BA/DA
  • Collaborating with builders, engineers, town planners, certifiers, interior designers and other key stakeholders
  • Being a key team member within an innovative, creative, family-oriented team where your input is valued

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in residential building design (custom new homes and renovations)
  • Diploma or Certificate qualification in Building Design
  • Highly skilled in Revit and preferably proficient with BIM software
  • Strong understanding of NCC, QDC, and local codes
  • Proven experience working directly with clients, builders and other key stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong design flair and attention to detail
  • Current driver's license and willingness to travel across Brisbane
  • Organised, motivated, and confident working both independently and as part of a team

  • QBCC Low-Rise Building Design Licence
  • Experience with Lumion or Enscape rendering
  • Interior design background or interest
  • Existing builder referrals or network connections
  • Residing on Brisbane's Northside or open to travel across metro areas
