About the NSWC
The Navy Synthetic Warfighting Centre (NSWC) delivers warfare training and command-and-control training for the Royal Australian Navy, as well as Joint and Combined forces. Operating from HMAS Watson in Watsons Bay, NSW, NSWC provides cutting-edge Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) simulation-enabled training at the individual, unit, and force level.
The Role
We are seeking an Exercise and Simulation Control (EXCON/SIMCON) Technician to perform as a Professional Interactor, supporting realistic synthetic training events that replicate real-world maritime warfare scenarios.
You will deliver tactically accurate role-play and simulation control, enabling customer personnel to achieve maritime warfare training outcomes. This position requires a strong grasp of ADF tactics, the ability to think quickly in dynamic situations, and the interpersonal skills to engage with military personnel at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver blue-force and/or red-force interactor functions with tactical accuracy.
Apply knowledge of:
Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW)
- Anti-Air Warfare (AAW)
- Anti-Surface Warfare (ASuW)
- Electronic Warfare (EW)
- Air Space Management
- Naval Gunfire Support & Joint Fire Missions
- Execute and coordinate synthetic training events.
- Operate simulation systems within EXCON/SIMCON environments.
- Provide realistic role-play for training scenarios.
- Contribute to pre- and post-event exercise documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Cubic's Quality, Safety, and Security policies.
Essential Criteria
- Australian citizen with current NV1 clearance (and ability to upgrade to NV2).
- Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a matrix team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform under pressure.
- Stakeholder relationship management skills.
- Eligible to access ITAR-controlled information.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of current ADF simulation doctrine, tactics, and procedures.
- Experience in military training environments.
- Familiarity with RAN voice procedures.
- Combat System Operator or Air Warfare Specialist background.
- Understanding of training systems, exercise development, and C2 systems.
