A Defence-aligned organisation supporting secure, scalable ICT infrastructure and simulation systems. This role contributes to the stability and performance of the Fleet Battle Lab System, ensuring compliance with cyber standards and operational excellence.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced
System Administrator
to manage Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments, support virtualisation platforms, and maintain secure network infrastructure. You'll work across a broad tech stack including Cisco, Fortinet, VMware, and Veeam, supporting simulation integration and Defence-grade systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain Windows Server 2022 and RHEL 8 systems.
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and system hardening.
  • Configure and support Hyper-V and VMware virtualisation environments.
  • Maintain Veeam Backup & Replication and disaster recovery planning.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Cisco switches/routers and FortiGate firewalls.
  • Automate tasks using PowerShell and Bash scripting.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support and collaborate with vendors and stakeholders.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in systems administration within medium to large IT environments.
  • Strong experience with Windows and/or Linux (RHEL) systems.
  • Proven skills in Cisco networking and FortiGate firewalls.
  • Solid knowledge of AD, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Hands-on experience with Hyper-V, VMware, and Veeam.
  • Exposure to cybersecurity practices and standards.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.

Qualifications & Certifications:

  • Certificate IV in Information Technology or equivalent.
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Engineer (RHCE)
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP
  • Fortinet NSE 4+
  • Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE)
  • CompTIA Security+ or Network+

NV1 Security Clearance required
