About PlayHQ
Founded in 2018, PlayHQ is revolutionising community sports by replacing decades-old legacy systems with modern digital experiences. From our Melbourne CBD headquarters, we're on a mission to unleash the life-changing power of community sport. PlayHQ also recently acquired TeamPay, the leading game payments mobile app in Australia, which it is integrating further into its core apps and administrator flows.
The Role
We're seeking a Senior Product Manager to own our Payments & Registrations product domain - the engine that has collected almost $1 billion for our partners. We need someone who brings strong ecommerce experience and understands conversion optimisation, applying these skills to transform how sporting communities handle registrations and payments
Your mission: Remove all friction from sporting participation by creating seamless payment and registration experiences that just work.
You'll own the full payments ecosystem - from administrator tools through to participant experiences - with a focus on driving adoption, increasing conversion rates, and building products that scale.
What You'll Be Doing
Product Ownership & Delivery
- Own the payments and registration product roadmap, from discovery through to delivery
- Build zero-to-one features that unlock new capabilities for sporting organisations
- Partner with engineering and design to ship high-quality products that users love
- Balance quick wins with longer-term platform investments
Payment Infrastructure & Optimisation
- Monitor and optimise core payment metrics to improve success rates and reduce transaction costs
- Evaluate and integrate new payment providers to expand capabilities and drive down processing costs
- Lead payment expansion into new markets, navigating local payment preferences and compliance requirements
- Build flexible payment workflows and models that adapt to different sporting contexts and revenue streams
- Integrate and unify payment experiences across the platform to create a seamless ecosystem for
users
Conversion & Growth Optimisation
- Apply ecommerce best practices to improve registration completion rates, shop conversion and payment success
- Identify and systematically remove friction points in user journeys
- Run experiments to optimise key conversion points throughout the registration and payment flows
- Use data to understand user behavior and inform product decisions
- Drive adoption of payment features across our administrator base
User Experience & Adoption
- Design intuitive payment experiences for both administrators and participants
- Create onboarding flows that get sports organisations up and running quickly
- Build features that encourage participants to complete registrations and payments
- Ensure our payment products work seamlessly across web and mobile platforms
Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with sporting organisations to understand their unique payment challenges
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure payment products support broader company goals
- Communicate product vision and progress to leadership and key stakeholders
- Balance the needs of multiple user types (administrators, participants, parents clubs)
