The Opportunity: We are seeking motivated scientists at all career stages — from early-career graduates to experienced researchers — to join our team.
This role offers hands-on experience in a modern PC2 laboratory, contributing to a CRC-P innovation project that integrates AST, PCR, and ELISA workflows into a compact, automated diagnostic platform.
You will contribute to both routine diagnostic testing and cutting-edge R&D, developing skills across microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, and genomics.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform microbial culture, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, PCR assays, and ELISA.
- Develop, optimise, and validate high-throughput automated workflows.
- Conduct molecular biology techniques including DNA extraction, library prep, and sequencing.
- Maintain robotics platforms, laboratory equipment, and consumable supplies.
- Record, analyse, and interpret data in compliance with ISO/NATA quality systems.
- Collaborate with industry and academic partners nationally and internationally.
About You
Essential:
- Degree in microbiology, molecular biology, immunology, biotechnology, or related field; or relevant lab technician experience.
- Strong technical laboratory skills and attention to detail.
- Understanding of PC2 biosafety practices.
- Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
Highly Regarded:
- Experience in microbiology, immunology, or molecular biology (coursework, projects, or professional).
- Knowledge of genomics workflows (NGS, bioinformatics).
- Exposure to ISO/NATA-accredited environments.
