We have an exciting opportunity to join Vocus as a National Data Centre Engineer – based in Melbourne.

Are you a technical expert with a passion for integration, standardisation, and innovation in data centre environments? Vocus is seeking a National Data Centre Engineer to lead the design, development, standardisation, and integration of our facilities across Australia, including newly acquired sites.

What You'll Be Doing Day-to-day
Integration & Standardisation
You will lead the design, development, and implementation of standardised systems for monitoring (BMS/DCIM), CCTV, and access control across both existing and newly acquired facilities. This includes conducting comprehensive gap analyses and integration planning to align diverse legacy systems into unified platforms. You will also define and maintain technical standards and frameworks to ensure consistency, security, and operational efficiency across all sites.

Technical Design & Project Delivery
In this role, you will be responsible for developing detailed technical designs, specifications, and scopes of work for system integration and upgrade projects. You will manage these projects from concept through to implementation, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Additionally, you will oversee vendor selection, procurement processes, and contractor management to support successful project execution.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation
You will proactively identify opportunities to enhance system performance, security, and user experience by leveraging emerging technologies and industry best practices. Your recommendations and implementations will focus on improving data centre monitoring, access controls, and security frameworks in alignment with business objectives.

Furthermore, you will escalate any identified improvements to standards, policies, or procedures to enhance system usage and reduce support volumes, while keeping management informed of any discrepancies or deficiencies.

Knowledge Sharing & Professional Development
You will contribute to the creation and maintenance of both customer-facing and internal documentation, including processes and work instructions. Active participation in professional development activities such as workshops, courses, and certifications is encouraged. You are also expected to support continuous improvement initiatives and comply with established management systems and processes. Additional duties may be assigned by departmental team leads or managers as required.
