About the role
- The Capacity Development Officer will be instrumental in empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff while enhancing the cultural capacity of Metro North Health. The role will focus on the continuous improvement of internal process and systems to meet strategic and operational objectives, with a commitment to creating cultural safe practices and addressing systemic racism across all levels of the organisation.
- The purpose of the team is to enhance cultural safety and capacity development within Metro North Health by leading and implementing innovative initiatives that integrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into organisational practices. They focus on empowering staff through professional development, supporting trauma-informed care, and addressing institutional racism. The team collaborates with experts to apply best practices, integrates culturally informed approaches into existing programs, and manages the evaluation and reporting of initiatives to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with strategic goals.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Develop and implement innovative approaches to enhance cultural safety and capacity within Metro North.
- Identify and apply best practices in capacity development, ensuring alignment with Metro North Health's strategic goals.
- Lead initiatives that promote cultural safety across all levels of the organisation, ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are embedded in operational practices.
- Empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff by facilitating access to professional development opportunities and resources that strengthen cultural capability and capacity building.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to design and implement trauma-informed care practices, emotional regulation strategies, and racial and discrimination education programs.
- Support the integration of culturally informed approaches into existing programs and frameworks.
