We are seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Lawyer to lead our Chermside office, oversee day-to-day operations, and guide our dedicated team of legal professionals and support staff.
About the RoleThis is a senior leadership position where you will be responsible not only for managing and growing the office but also for maintaining a hands-on legal practice. You will provide high-quality advice and representation to clients across:
- Family Law (parenting, property, divorce, domestic violence)
- Wills & Estates (estate planning, probate, administration, contested estates)
- Criminal Law (summary and indictable offences, bail applications, sentencing)
- General Legal Practice (contracts, property matters, civil disputes, commercial law as required)
As the Principal of the Chermside office, you will oversee workflow, manage staff, maintain compliance obligations, and contribute to the firm's growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the operation of the Chermside office, ensuring smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
- Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, paralegals, and administrative staff.
- Deliver expert legal advice and representation to clients across multiple practice areas.
- Maintain professional and ethical standards in line with QLS and regulatory obligations.
- Manage client relationships, business development, and referral networks to grow the practice.
- Oversee financial performance, compliance, and risk management of the office.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- A current Principal Practising Certificate in Queensland.
- Minimum 5+ years PAE across Family Law, Wills & Estates, Criminal Law, and General Practice.
- Proven leadership and management experience within a legal practice.
- Strong client relationship management and business development skills.
- A commitment to mentoring and developing junior staff.
- High-level communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
