The Role

As a Contracts Administrator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the commercial success of our water and wastewater projects. You'll manage contracts with precision, ensuring obligations are met, risks are addressed and variations or claims are handled effectively. Working closely with the Commercial & Contracts Manager, Project Managers, subcontractors, and BDM's, you'll provide essential support that keeps projects compliant, profitable and on track.

This role suits a commercially minded professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You'll bring strong attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to balance competing priorities while building trusted stakeholder relationships. In return, you'll gain exposure to significant infrastructure projects and the opportunity to grow within a collaborative, high-performing Commercial team.

Key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

  • Administer head contracts and subcontracts, ensuring compliance with key dates, deliverables and obligations while maintaining clear communication with project teams.
  • Draft, review and manage subcontractor agreements, aligning them with head contract terms and ensuring obligations are accurately flowed down.
  • Identify and prepare variation claims, extensions of time and delay costs in accordance with contract requirements, ensuring risks are mitigated and entitlements preserved.
  • Maintain robust documentation and registers, including correspondence logs, claims registers and contract deliverables trackers, ensuring audit-ready traceability.
  • Support subcontractor tendering, negotiation and award processes, monitoring performance to ensure compliance with insurance, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly project reports, cost-to-complete forecasts and cash flow projections, providing commercial insights to support decision-making.
  • Contribute to early risk identification by escalating potential disputes or contractual issues to the Commercial & Contracts Manager and supporting proactive mitigation strategies.

About You

You are a contracts professional with experience in construction, utilities, or infrastructure and ideally some exposure to the water sector. With 2–5 years in contract administration, you are confident working with Australian Standard forms (AS2124, AS4000, GC21) and have a solid understanding of claims, variations and contractual correspondence.

You bring strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines across multiple projects. Proficiency with systems such as Aconex, TeamBinder, or Jobpac, coupled with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement, ensures you can protect Aquatec's commercial position while contributing to collaborative project success.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • 2–5 years' experience in contract administration, ideally within the construction, utilities, or infrastructure sectors, with exposure to water and wastewater projects highly regarded.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering, Law, Commerce, or a related discipline, providing you with a strong foundation in commercial and contractual principles.
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian Standard contracts (AS2124, AS4000, GC21), with the ability to interpret, apply and manage key provisions; exposure to NEC contracts will be considered an advantage.
  • Proven ability to prepare and manage variations, claims, extensions of time and contractual correspondence, ensuring entitlements are protected and risks are mitigated.
  • Proficiency in contract management and document control systems such as Aconex, TeamBinder, or Jobpac, combined with strong reporting and organisational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with subcontractors, clients and internal stakeholders to secure positive outcomes.
  • A detail-focused, collaborative, and commercially aware approach, with the ability to balance competing priorities while protecting Aquatec's contractual position.

At Aquatec, you'll be part of a collaborative and high-performing team, all aligned with delivering critical water and wastewater infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to project success by safeguarding our commercial position, supporting effective contract administration and working closely with industry leaders across diverse projects. If you're ready to grow your career in a role that values precision, professionalism, and impact, apply today with your resume and cover letter and join a team that's shaping the future of water infrastructure delivery.
