The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Estimator to join our estimating team. This role is critical in supporting the continued growth of Zero Group by producing accurate, timely, and commercially competitive estimates across a wide range of varying projects.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, sound commercial judgement, and the ability to manage multiple priorities within strict timeframes. You will engage with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers while ensuring that all estimates are fully documented, compliant, and aligned with company standards and risk management practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end sales process, from initial client enquiry through to securing the contract, ensuring clear communication, accurate documentation, and strong client relationships throughout.
- Maintain customer relationships through client contact, site visits, and follow-up calls to secure projects.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, scopes of work, and methodologies in accordance with company procedures and industry standards.
- Conduct site inspections to assess project requirements, gather data, take samples, complete AMP's and liaise directly with clients and site representatives.
- Coordinate and validate subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure competitive and compliant submissions.
- Document project scopes and risks comprehensively, including drawings, photographs, access notes, exclusions, and allowances.
- Provide clear and complete handovers to the operations team to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Maintain compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 9001, WHS legislation, and relevant Australian standards.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of estimating processes and mentor junior team members.
Skills & Experience
The successful applicant will ideally possess:
- Demonstrated experience in estimating and quoting, preferably within the asbestos, demolition, or environmental remediation sectors.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of estimating and quoting experience is required.
- Strong knowledge of asbestos, mould, and water damage remediation methodologies.
- Working knowledge of asbestos, mould, and water damage remediation methodologies is required.
- Familiarity with IICRC practices, ISO frameworks, and relevant industry regulations.
- Competence in using Microsoft Excel and Word.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Professional, organised, and responsive approach with sound problem-solving capabilities.
- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel for site inspections.
