The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for energetic and motivated individuals seeking a diverse role that includes event supervision, cleaning, setup and pack-down, technical support, front-of-house duties, and reporting. Working as part of a professional and friendly team, this role collaborates with clients and contractors to deliver civic, cultural, corporate, and community events. This position is highly customer-focused and involves flexible hours based on venue bookings, contributing to the delivery of high-quality services and experiences for Hobsons Bay's diverse cultural venues, including Altona Theatre, Williamstown Town Hall, Old Laverton School, and Williamstown Mechanics Institute.

What you'll be doing

  • Ensuring cultural venues are clean, secure, and well-presented before, during, and after events.
  • Setting up and packing down equipment and spaces for a variety of functions, including civic, cultural, and corporate events.
  • Monitoring venue use to ensure compliance with Council policies and assisting clients and contractors during events.
  • Providing technical support, front-of-house services, and refreshment delivery as required.
  • Reporting maintenance issues, completing function reports, and maintaining accurate booking records.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and engaging with community members to deliver high-quality venue experiences across Hobsons Bay.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to meet client expectations and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Practical knowledge of venue operations, including cleaning, manual handling, and setting up audio-visual equipment.
  • Solid understanding of public venue safety requirements and safe work practices.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in teams, manage time efficiently, and build positive relationships with staff and facility users.

Pre-Employment Requirements
