The NSW Department of Education is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior SAP Security Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will deliver exceptional customer service, oversee the maintenance of SAP systems—including legacy environments—and support the implementation of innovative solutions.

Key responsibilities include managing SAP Security and GRC Access Control—conducting risk assessments, designing security roles, and ensuring compliance with business, audit, and internal standards.

You will collaborate with technical and functional teams to ensure system modifications adhere to security protocols, monitor SAP GRC tools for segregation of duties (SoD) risks, and resolve user access issues to optimize security and user experience.

You will lead audit remediation efforts, oversee access compliance, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing within the security domain. Your expertise will also support system performance, facilitate change management, and ensure compliance within governance frameworks, while staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.

About you

  • Extensive experience in large enterprise environments, with a focus on the education sector, and a deep understanding of digital challenges, risks, issues, and opportunities in this industry
  • Proven expertise in SAP Security and GRC, including hands-on experience with GRC Access Control, SoD risk remediation, and managing security in complex, large-scale systems
  • Solid knowledge of IT service management principles and frameworks such as ITIL, along with familiarity with process tools and methodologies
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, proficient in diagnosing security issues, audit findings, and access-related concerns
  • Exceptional communication abilities, capable of liaising effectively with technical teams, stakeholders, and auditors, providing clear guidance, advice, and detailed documentation
  • Thrive on working in a high-volume environment and have the ability to manage difficult and complex inquiries in a professional manner with sensitivity and discretion. Sound communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Note: the selection process will include a range of assessment techniques to assist in determining your suitability for the role. Successful candidates will be required to undertake pre-employment screening for this role which includes a National Criminal History Check.

This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee. The employer obligations under the WWCC would apply for duration of the WWCC's validity (up to 5 years).
