About the Role
A well-established electrical contracting company is seeking an experienced and reliable Accounts Administrator (Contractor) to assist with all aspects of financial and administrative management.
This is a part-time contracting role, 2–3 days per week, with a minimum of 2 days in the office and the third day optional from home for overflow work. The role suits someone who has worked in the trade or construction industry and can manage end-to-end accounts processes with confidence and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable and receivable in Xero, including supplier invoices, client invoicing, and reconciliations.
- Prepare and submit progress claims and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Process ABA file payments, reconcile credit card (Amex) statements, reimbursements, and credits.
- Collate and review timesheets, assist with weekly payroll and related entries.
- Work with the accountant to assist with BAS preparation and reporting.
- Cross-check and reconcile supplier statements and purchase invoices.
- Manage vehicle registrations, fines, and insurance renewals, ensuring all payments and records are current.
- Oversee commercial and liquidators' insurance payments, ensuring all accounts remain active.
- Maintain accurate profit and loss tracking per job and report variances.
- General accounts administration, filing, and financial record-keeping.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3+ years in an accounts or finance admin role, preferably in a trade or construction business.
- Proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Excel is essential.
- Experience preparing progress claims, ABA files, and reconciling accounts.
- Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-up skills.
- Confident communicating with suppliers, clients, and internal staff.
- Fast learner who can work independently and take initiative.
