Tree Farmer Project Manager

Position Description

Rate: $50–$60 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications) Contract Period: 28 August 2026 Hours: Minimum one day per week (flexible, with potential to increase hours depending on project requirements)

About the Role

Tree Farmer is seeking a skilled and motivated Project Manager to coordinate and deliver the new Tree Farmer – Environmental Markets Knowledge Hub.

This role ensures the project runs smoothly, achieves its objectives and grows as a trusted, regionally relevant resource for landholders and environmental professionals across the North Coast.

Working collaboratively with the Subtropical Farm Forestry Association (SFFA), funders and community partners, the Project Manager will oversee milestones, stakeholder engagement and reporting.

About Tree Farmer

Tree Farmer ) is a new regional knowledge hub website dedicated to demystifying environmental markets across the North Coast of NSW. Developed by the Subtropical Farm Forestry Association (SFFA) with funding

support from the North Coast Regional Landcare Network (NCRLN) Caring for Catchments project, the knowledge hub connects landholders, environmental professionals, researchers and investors to share reliable, locally relevant information.

Its aim is to empower landholders to make informed decisions, foster cross-sector collaboration and strengthen the region's capacity for nature repair and sustainable land management.

Important Note: The Tree Farmer () website is currently under construction.

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination

● Manage project timelines, deliverables and budgets.

● Maintain an up-to-date work plan and progress tracker.

● Liaise with the SFFA and Project Lead to meet reporting and funding requirements.

● Coordinate regular meetings and updates with the SFFA Committee and NCRLN.

Website & Knowledge Hub Management

● Oversee the ongoing development and maintenance of the Tree Farmer website (Wordpress).

● Liaise with the web agency (Lion & Lamb) for updates, improvements and troubleshooting.

● Research, create and upload new content such as blogs, resources and event listings in line with Tree Farmer's style guide.

Expert Panel & Consortium Engagement

● Coordinate advice, meetings and submitted content with the Tree Farmer Expert Panel.

● Collaborate and communicate as required with the NCRLN Consortium members.

● Support the collection of research, insights and regional partnerships.

Stakeholder Relations

● Act as the primary contact for SFFA, NCRLN and partner organisations.

● Build and maintain relationships with government, community and industry networks.

● Represent Tree Farmer at relevant events and workshops.

Communications & Promotion

● Produce the Tree Farmer newsletter, compiling updates, resources and news for distribution.

● Manage social media channels (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn) to share project updates and stories.

● Draft media releases in collaboration with SFFA, NCRLN and communications partners.

● Ensure consistent branding and tone across all external communications.

● Support development of promotional materials for workshops, webinars and project milestones.

Reporting & Administration

● Prepare bi-monthly progress and milestone reports.

● Track key metrics, including website analytics, workshop participation and engagement outcomes.

● Maintain project correspondence, invoices and documentation.

Essential Skills & Experience

● Proven experience in project or program management, ideally in environmental or community sectors.

● Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.

● Proficiency in website content management systems (e.g. WordPress).

● Experience working with multi-stakeholder collaborations and/or community organisations.

● Familiarity with monitoring, evaluation and reporting processes.

● Strong attention to detail, time management and documentation skills.

Preferred

● Understanding of environmental markets, tree growing or natural resource management.

● Skills in newsletter and social media management.

Requirements

● Current ABN (contractor role).

● Ability to work remotely with reliable internet access.

● Availability to attend occasional in-person meetings and field events across the North Coast.

● Willingness to work collaboratively with SFFA, NCRLN and community partners.

● Commitment to Tree Farmer's values of collaboration, environmental stewardship and community knowledge-sharing.

Desirable

● Based in the Northern Rivers region, preferably Byron, Ballina or Lismore Shires.

Work Conditions

● Minimum one day per week, with flexibility to increase hours as the project evolves.

● Remote role, with occasional travel for meetings or events across the North Coast.

● Reports jointly to the Tree Farmer Project Lead and the Subtropical Farm Forestry Association (SFFA).

Contract and Reporting Structure

The proposed role will be contracted by the Subtropical Farm Forestry Association (SFFA) through the Tree Farmer project. The position reports directly to the Tree Farmer Project Lead and the SFFA Committee, not the NCRLN.

The Tree Farmer Project Lead and SFFA are responsible for managing and supervising the role.

One of the key functions of this position will include supporting and undertaking Tree Farmer project reporting to the funding body, the North Coast Regional Landcare Network (NCRLN), ensuring accurate, timely and compliant progress updates.
