With over 93 services across Victoria (and growing), Y Kinders is the largest Early Years Management provider in the state. Our operations include kindergartens, early learning centres, and before- and after-school care.

About the role:

As our Area Maintenance Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our Kinder facilities are safe, welcoming, and well-maintained. In this hands-on role, you'll service multiple Y Kinder sites within a designated area—maintaining external grounds and assisting with general internal maintenance to ensure each site remains in excellent condition.

Some of your core duties will include:

  • Implement a maintenance regime that ensures all sites are kept well-maintained
  • Plan and execute routine and corrective maintenance tasks across all areas, from kinder rooms to outdoor spaces, ensuring our spaces are safe, welcoming, and maintained to the highest standards.
  • In conjunction with the Facilities Maintenance Officer, coordinate the monthly, quarterly and annual maintenance schedules using internal and external resources as deemed necessary.
  • Coordinate and manage external contractors on maintenance jobs that require special expertise.
  • Work independently and as part of a broader team, ensuring a high standard of service and facility.

What do you need to be successful – "The Essentials"

  • Qualified tradesman e.g. Electrician, Plumber, Carpenter, Building, Air-conditioning or Painting (desirable).
  • An appreciation and understanding of the not-for-profit sector.
  • Own vehicle, trailer and tools required.
  • Travel allowance provided.
  • Current unrestricted driver's license
  • Extensive experience working as a handyperson/maintenance officer/trade.
  • Ability to demonstrate to complete gardening and maintenance tasks
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and codes of practice.
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours as determined by the business requirements.
  • Completion of the Y's Safeguarding Online training.
  • Current Employee Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
