Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Align Talent Full time $120,000 - $140,000 per year

We're exclusively partnering with a long-standing technology business that plays a key role in delivering digital platforms to support Australia's energy and utilities sector.

As the business strengthens its software delivery function, this role will focus on enabling and leading high-performing development teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned to strategic goals. Reporting to a senior leader, you'll lead the Development Team Leads, driving planning, scheduling, and execution across the software delivery function. You'll ensure teams deliver with predictability, ownership, and quality while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

This is not a coding role, but it requires someone technically credible, able to guide and mentor teams, and ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practices. SaaS product experience is highly desirable, and utilities domain knowledge is advantageous but not essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor Development Team Leads and supporting teams, setting clear priorities, accountability, and performance standards.
  • Drive planning, scheduling, and execution across local and offshore development teams to deliver predictable, high-quality outcomes.
  • Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and engineering excellence across all teams.
  • Enhance estimation accuracy and delivery predictability for stakeholders.
  • Lead initiatives to strengthen QA practices, including test automation, CI/CD pipelines, and shift-left testing.
  • Elevate agile practices and implement new efficiencies and delivery improvements across the organisation.

About you

  • Energetic and credible leader with experience managing high-performing software development teams.
  • Proven track record in agile planning, sprint execution, and milestone delivery.
  • Experience leading local and offshore teams.
  • Strong technical foundation with a broad understanding of software development lifecycle, QA, and cloud/SaaS delivery practices.
  • SaaS product background preferred; utilities or energy domain experience is advantageous.

Why you'll want to join

  • Lead and shape a refreshed delivery structure with visible impact.
  • Influence delivery capability, engineering standards, and agile practices across the business.
  • Work in a collaborative, supportive environment with career growth potential.
  • Contribute to SaaS products that support critical sector outcomes and the wider community.

We know great teams thrive on diverse perspectives. We encourage applications from women and people of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. Don't worry if you don't tick every box - if this role excites you, please apply or reach out for a confidential chat -
