Queensland Logistics Leader
BlueScope is an Australian-born global success story spanning 15 countries. Our team of over 16,500 people is our strength and we want our people to be safe, successful and well. We're leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future. We're proud of brands, like COLORBOND steel that inspire and protect everything from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.
The Opportunity
Our Logistics team is looking for a Queensland Logistics Leader in our Processing and Logistics team based at Gay Street, Coopers Plains, Queensland. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, this fast-paced site operates a continuous production environment. In this busy site that handles over 500,000 tonnes of steel per year, you will have direct impact on the delivery performance of BlueScope Australian Steel Products.
Step into a career-defining role, reporting directly to the QLD Processing & Logistics Manager, you'll lead a dedicated team of 25 and become the driving force behind a site that keeps Queensland's steel supply moving.
This isn't just about logistics — it's about people. You'll spend your days building trust, engaging your team, and creating strong connections with colleagues, contractors, transport partners, and customers. With multiple rail and truck movements each and every day of operations, your ability to lead with energy, empathy, and clarity will be the difference between good and great.
As the heartbeat of a fast-paced, critical site — and with exciting upgrades and transformation projects underway — you'll thrive on problem-solving, bouncing between challenges, and inspiring those around you to deliver their best. You'll get the most from this opportunity being on-site each day, and working the hours of 8am -4pm.
What Will You Do?
Balancing the demands of day-to-day operations while you bring out the best in the team, you'll
- lead and inspire your team, creating a safe, inclusive, and engaged workplace culture
- act as the go-to problem solver, handling a wide range of questions and challenges daily
- drive high standards of safety and quality system compliance across the site
- manage operational performance, contractor partnerships, and cost efficiency
- guide your team through change with clear communication, coaching, and mentoring
- identify improvement opportunities and make them real
More About You
As someone who builds strong relationships quickly and can stay calm and clear when things get busy, you'll take ownership over the Gay St Terminal. You'll bring:
- a proven track record in people leadership, with the ability to motivate, influence, and engage others
- strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to connect across all levels — from frontline operators to senior leaders and external partners
- a passion for safety and quality, with the discipline to uphold systems and standards every day
- resilience and agility to bounce between competing priorities, projects, and operational demands
- Tertiary qualifications in a related field are preferred but not essential
