The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.
The Quality and Innovation Unit leads the way in service development, healthcare quality, digital innovation, public health, research, and evaluation—driving continuous improvement and excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing.
About the Role?
As Project Manager – Lung Cancer Screening & Care Pathways, you will lead the design and implementation of the National Lung Cancer Screening Program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the region. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to life-saving initiatives while working in a supportive, culturally strong, and forward-thinking organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to co-design and roll out a culturally safe and practical project plan, setting clear goals, realistic timelines, and making sure resources are allocated where they're most needed.
- Bring people together whether it's our health workforce, local community members, or technology partners to make the best use of our infrastructure and digital tools, ensuring everyone feels valued and heard throughout the project.
- Check in regularly with teams and community partners to track project milestones, share updates, and keep things moving in the right direction always adapting when needed to overcome any challenges.
- Work side-by-side with internal teams, Steering Committees, advisory groups, elders, and clients listening and learning from each other to make sure our service truly reflects the needs and strengths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Lead the way in finding new and better ways of doing things championing innovation and continuous improvement in how care systems and services are delivered, always with community input at the centre.
- Help create a workplace where honesty, respect, and transparency are more than just words ensuring every team member, feels supported, empowered, and safe to be themselves.
About You?
You are a strategic thinker and skilled project manager with:
- Proven experience delivering health-related projects, ideally within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health contexts.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, especially in cross-cultural environments.
- A commitment to culturally safe practices and community empowerment.
- The ability to lead with integrity and deliver high-impact outcomes in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Current Criminal History Check
- Valid Blue Card
- Valid Disability Screening Check (Yellow Card)
Desirable, but not mandatory:
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
