We're looking for a Director – Regulatory Advisory who leads with integrity, empathy, and purpose. Reporting to the Head of Compliance – Australia and PNG, you'll play a pivotal role in driving and delivering on Second Line of Defence (2LoD) risk, governance and compliance objectives and plans.
What You Will DoAs Director – Regulatory Advisory, you will be responsible for the development and oversight of the Regulatory Compliance framework, provide regulatory compliance training to Aon Senior Leadership Team and Aon business teams; and represent 2LoD at the AFSLs' governance and compliance committees.
Your responsibilities will include:- Leading regulatory engagement with ASIC, AFCA, AUSTRAC, NIBA, IBCCC and other bodies. Representing Aon Compliance at the NIBA Regulatory Affairs Committee.
- Provide experienced advice and guidance on AFSLs' related regulatory requirements related to Aon Reinsurance Solutions, One Underwriting and Risk Services.
- Chairing AFSL Governance and Compliance Committees and fostering a strong risk-aware culture.
- Coordinating complex claims, incidents and breaches matters and reviewing externally facing regulatory responses. Leading Aon remediation programs when and if required and working closely with Aon legal team to ensure compliance and appropriate E&O considerations.
- Leading all aspects of governance matters relevant to APRA CPS230 – Operational Risk Management, where Aon is acting as the material service provider.
- Support regulatory change processes from identification to implementation by working closely with senior collaborators and providing practical and solution – oriented advice to Aon operations team and segments' leads.
- Maintaining the obligation library and supervising regulatory compliance plans for Australia and PNG.
- Developing (if and when needed) and facilitating regulatory compliance related training to Aon functions and segments.
- Being part of the Aon's Global Compliance Team and participate in global regulatory working groups and projects.
- Preparing quarterly Regulatory Risk reports for the purposes of submission to the Australian Risk and Compliance Committee and the APAC Risk Committee.
- Assist Compliance Managers and Compliance Coordinators with any regulatory related queries and give to the team's knowledge transfer and capability building.
- Assist Aon internal audit team with their annual audits and related to 3LoD regulatory queries.
To thrive in this role, you'll bring:
- Min 10-15 years of practical knowledge of the Corporations Act, Insurance Act, and ASIC and AFCA regulatory requirements. This role will ideally suit a guide compliance professional with a legal academic background.
- Practical experience in remediations and/or litigation matters relevant to complex claims/incidents/breaches in the Australian financial services industry.
- Proven experience in a senior compliance or governance advisory role, with exposure to the Board/Risk and Compliance Committees reporting.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex regulatory concepts into practical mentorship. Given the role's responsibilities will include quarterly training to the business, the ideal candidate will have a practical experience in facilitating training across the business or/and had experience in making pitches in the industry forums or seminars.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
