About the role

The Contract Performance Officer sits within the Waste and Recycling Branch, Infrastructure and Amenity Division and offers an exciting opportunity to ensure Melbourne's essential waste and recycling services are delivered to the highest standards.

This role plays a key part in safeguarding service quality, strengthening provider accountability, and supporting the strategic goals of the City of Melbourne in building a sustainable and liveable city. Based primarily on site in our vibrant Melbourne CBD office, you'll enjoy being in the heart of the city with cafes, shops and transport right on your doorstep.

You will work closely with service providers, building managers, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with contract requirements, uphold Chain of Responsibility obligations, and identify efficiencies in waste management – particularly across commercial premises. This role is critical in maintaining uninterrupted services amidst the evolving challenges of our growing city.

A little more about the role

  • Conduct inspections and audits to identify issues affecting service delivery or public amenity
  • Analyse performance against KPIs and prepare clear management reports highlighting trends and opportunities
  • Independently assess waste management systems in buildings and work with stakeholders to optimise services
