Senior Purchasing Officer

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer to join our Supply Chain team and support Production with on-time delivery of our products.  Our Production team is organised into multidisciplinary teams, responsible for complete project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary point of contact for purchasing queries across the business.
• Review, approve, and oversee purchase orders to ensure the right materials are sourced at the right time, quality, quantity, price, and from the right suppliers.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners to support business objectives.
• Monitor and report on purchasing-related KPIs to the Supply Chain Manager.
• Identify and manage purchasing and resource-related risks, escalating issues to senior management where appropriate.
• Recommend and support improvements to internal purchasing processes and systems.
• Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to team members, contributing to a positive and high-performing department.
• Assist with onboarding and training of new team members within the purchasing team.
• Perform routine purchasing duties to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and capability growth of the purchasing function.

• Strong purchasing expertise with experience sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships and negotiating fair pricing.
• Confidence in decision-making with the ability to resolve issues independently and escalate when required.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder skills, acting as a reliable point of contact across the business.
• Ability to build and maintain industry partnerships that support long-term supply and capability objectives.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, including experience monitoring KPIs or procurement metrics.
• Continuous improvement mindset, with a track record of enhancing processes or systems.
• High attention to detail and commitment to purchasing accuracy (quality, quantity, timing, source, and price).
• Organisational skills to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
