ABOUT THE ROLE - This is a fixed term role, approximately 10 hours per week
The Strength & Conditioning Coach (Female Pathways) will lead the physical preparation of players in the NT Talent Academy female programs. The role is fundamental in creating an elite, supportive training environment that allows talented female athletes to reach their full potential.
Key Relationships
- Talent Manager - NT
- NT Talent Academy Head Coach (Female)
- Regional Development Coaches (Central Australia, Big Rivers, Barkly)
- Casual Strength & Conditioning staff across the NT
- Medical and performance consultants (physiotherapists, doctors, trainers)
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
Key Accountabilities:
Strength & Conditioning
- Design and deliver progressive, age-appropriate strength and conditioning programs for female pathway athletes.
- Implement tailored pre-season and in-season conditioning programs to optimise performance.
Sports Science
- Use internal (Smartabase) and external (GPS) load monitoring tools to track athlete performance and inform training adjustments.
- Provide performance feedback to the High-Performance Lead and pathway coaches.
Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation
- Collaborate with medical staff to design and support rehabilitation and return-to-play programs for injured athletes.
- Deliver preventative strength and mobility programming to minimise injury risk.
OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER
Core Competencies:
- A degree in Exercise Science (or equivalent).
- ASCA Level 1 S&C Accreditation (Level 2 preferred).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including two training nights and game days on weekends.
- Current Working with Children Check (Ochre Card) or ability to obtain one prior to starting
- Demonstrated personal initiative
Desirable:
- Experience with Catapult GPS software and athlete monitoring technology. This is a critical role for the AFL industry and is responsible leading the development and delivery of strategies that promote First Nations engagement and inclusion within the AFL industry.
