Talent Street is looking for an IT Operations Lead for one of our large Victorian State government clients in the Water industry.

Role purpose:

The Operations Lead is accountable to the Manager of Operations to govern service management practices across IT to ensure compliance. The role is responsible for implementing and governing service management practices (e.g. ITIL) with the support of third party managed service providers, professional service providers and other teams within the business. The role will act as the company's incident manager for any high or critical incidents during and after business hours (on rotation) and is responsible for the availability of the company's IT systems.

Key individual accountabilities:

  • Ownership of the establishment, governance and execution of ITIL (e.g. incident, problem, change) services across the company's IT applications, systems and infrastructure.
  • Accountability of service management tool availability and managing to support software levels
  • Act as primary contact for Major incident management response (during and after business hours on rotation)
  • Developing service management process and procedures and ensure compliance across IT
  • In the event of a disaster being declared, accountability to ensure the Disaster recovery and business continuity management services are implemented
  • Managed service provider and vendor performance governance against SLA's
  • First point of contact for incident, problem and change escalations
  • End of end ownership of incident, problem and change escalations
  • Act as a trusted advisor and escalation point for the business for service management operational issues,
  • Delivery of operational day-to-day of the support services to the business including IT support and VIP service,

  • Management and delivery of a client facing walk up service and other remote sites as agreed.

  • Involvement and compliance with commercial and procurement processes where required.

  • Producing reports as required.
  • Involvement in service improvement opportunities including facilitating training to users as required

Qualifications and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in technology or equivalent industry working experience
  • ITIL Foundation and/or Practitioner.
  • Excellent understanding of service management delivery methodology, frameworks, and best practice
  • Experience working with a service management tool and CMDB/asset inventory management e.g. Service Now
  • Managing critical incidents in line with the GEMS (General emergency Management standard).

  • Managing major incident management escalations

  • Strong experience working with teams responsible for service operations and disaster recovery/business continuity

  • Primary escalation contact for major incident, problem, change and release management
  • Ability to think logically and demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills during high stress situations
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs with ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence

Technical Capability:

  • Demonstrated experience in service management tools, ITIL processes and capabilities

  • Demonstrated strong experience in incident management

  • Extensive experience working with managed service providers and vendors

  • Experience in providing high quality technical support to users and executives
  • Strong procurement and commercial acumen
