Primary objective

The position is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of accounting and support services across the agency, in accordance

with legislative, policy and procedural frameworks. It provides service delivery and advice to diverse stakeholders regarding training,

accounts payable and receivable, debt management, hospitality, official travel, corporate credit cards, fleet management and associated

systems.

Context statement

The Finance Systems and Innovation team delivers high-quality financial support services to government schools across both urban and

remote locations. These services encompass policy and governance development, resource creation, training delivery, administrative

process improvement, performance monitoring and reporting, and finance system development and support. Key stakeholders include

school principals, administrative staff, corporate personnel, and external partners. The team's priorities and activities are dynamic and

evolve in response to the needs of the Department of Education and Training (DET)

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Contribute to the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of financial policies, procedures, and resources to support

school financial management.

2. Assist in the administration of finance and corporate systems, including responding to school system enquiries.

3. Support the creation and refinement of financial support materials for use by agency and school staff.

4. Provide administrative assistance to leadership as required.

5. Ensure financial transactions comply with relevant legislation, agency policies, and procedures.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated understanding of financial management principles, procurement legislation, governance frameworks, and financial

administration procedures.

2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, financial systems, spreadsheets, and databases.

3. Proven ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced, deadline-driven

environment.

4. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders and provide

clear system and policy advice.

5. Capacity to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Desirable

1. Relevant qualifications in accounting, finance, or business.

2. Experience using systems such as Content Manager, Camtasia, Confluence, Jira, Articulate 360, Visio, and Vimeo.
