About the role
We currently have a vacancy for a part-time Dental Assistant to join the team. In this role, you will primarily support our dentists with clinical procedures, patient care, and maintaining a high standard of infection control and sterilisation protocols. You'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the clinic and delivering a positive experience for our patients.
While the focus of the role is clinical, you may also be required to assist with occasional reception duties, including greeting patients and helping with appointment coordination when needed.
Your duties will include but not be limited to:
- Assisting dentists during patient procedures, ensuring patients are comfortable and well cared for throughout
- Preparing treatment rooms before each appointment and maintaining cleanliness and sterilisation according to infection control protocols
- Managing sterilisation of instruments and ensuring all clinical areas are hygienic and well-stocked
- Supporting patient care by providing post-treatment instructions and answering any immediate questions
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records using our practice management software (EXACT)
- Managing treatment plans, recalls, and follow-up appointments as directed by the dental team
- Handling inventory by ordering and restocking dental materials and clinical supplies
- Occasionally assisting at the front desk, including greeting patients, answering phone calls, and coordinating appointment schedules when required
- Collaborating with the team to ensure smooth daily operations and excellent patient service
- Adhering strictly to infection control and workplace health and safety procedures
- Supporting the team with occasional administrative tasks such as data entry and scanning documents
About You
Along with your strong work ethic and caring, empathetic and professional approach to working with patients you'll have/be:
- At least 1 year of experience in a Dental Assistant or clinical support role (Required)
- Full Australian working rights or permanent residency (Required)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine focus on providing excellent patient care (Required)
- Proficiency in dental practice management software (e.g. EXACT) and basic Microsoft Office applications (Preferred)
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical setting (Required)
- A self-motivated attitude and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team (Required)
- Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting, or a willingness to enrol in a recognised traineeship (Preferred)
- A passion for the dental industry and a commitment to ongoing learning and development (Preferred)
- Willingness to commit to the role long-term (Required)
Day Shift: 2-3 Days in a week 09:45 AM - 6:15 PM
Work Location - In Person - 340 Bell Street, Preston
Expected Start date: Immediately
