Payroll Coordinator (Team Leader/Manager Equivalent)

Temporary Contract | Band 7 | People & Culture Department

$70.48–$78.27 per hour + Super

Join a progressive and inclusive organisation delivering exceptional services to the community. We're seeking an experienced Payroll Coordinator to lead our payroll function and ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll delivery for over 1,000 employees.

About the Role Reporting to the Payroll Consultant and Manager People, Culture & Safety, you'll:

  • Lead and mentor a team of two Payroll Officers.
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing in Aurion, ensuring compliance with relevant EBAs, awards, superannuation, taxation and Fair Work requirements.
  • Manage payroll governance, audits, and reporting, including STP, PAYG, and EOFY reconciliations.
  • Provide systems administration and specialist support for Aurion and integrated systems such as Humanforce.
  • Deliver accurate payroll reporting to Finance, ABS and other agencies.
  • Drive continuous improvement in payroll processes and ensure exceptional customer service standards.

About You You're a confident and capable payroll professional with a strong background in managing complex payrolls and leading teams. You bring:

  • Extensive payroll experience in a large, multi-site or government environment.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to support and develop team members.
  • Strong knowledge of Aurion (preferred) or similar payroll systems.
  • In-depth understanding of EBAs, awards, superannuation, taxation and employment legislation.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, Accounting or Business (desirable).
