What are we looking for

We are looking for a tech savvy financial accountant who can help us to improve efficiencies and also provide end-to-end finance and payroll support for our wholesale operations in Australia and New Zealand. The role handles accounts processing, reconciliations, payroll, and compliance, working closely with the Finance Manager and other teams to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and timely reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to system improvements and process efficiencies.
  • Process supplier and customer invoices, domestic and international vendor payments.
  • Process international purchase orders and landed costings
  • Monitor aged receivables and follow up overdue accounts.
  • Prepare and process AU/NZ payroll, superannuation, PAYG, and KiwiSaver.
  • Maintain payroll records and lodge STP/IRD submissions.
  • Complete bank, credit card, intercompany, and inventory reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end, year-end, and cost/profitability reporting.
  • Support BAS, GST, PAYG, FBT, and other compliance lodgements.
  • Liaise with sales and operations to resolve discrepancies.

Skills & Experience

  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, compliance, and statutory reporting.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Degree/Diploma in Accounting, CA/CPA qualified or working toward is ideal.
  • 3+ years' finance/payroll experience, ideally in wholesale or FMCG.
  • Knowledge of NZ payroll and tax requirements will be ideal but not necessary.
  • Proficient in Accounting and ERP systems (i.e. MYOB, Xero, Odoo) and intermediate or advanced Excel skills will be advantageous. .

Performance Measures

  • Timely, accurate processing and reconciliations.
  • Compliance with statutory deadlines in AU/NZ.
  • Reduced transaction, invoice/payment discrepancies.
  • Positive feedback from internal stakeholders regarding finance support and process improvement contributions.
