Position
Are you passionate about renewable energy and the future of the grid? Join NHOA Energy, a global leader in energy storage, and help shape the energy transition across Australia and Oceania. We're looking for a Senior Grid Integration Engineer to join our Perth or Melbourne team and take the lead in integrating cutting-edge Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) into the grid.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage the grid interconnection process for BESS projects from development to execution.
- Perform detailed power system studies (steady-state, dynamic, control modelling, etc.) using simulation tools.
- Evaluate and review grid performance reports and compliance packages.
- Provide expert technical support across the full project lifecycle—from sales to commissioning.
- Collaborate closely with clients, utilities, consultants, and operators (e.g., AEMO, TNSPs, NSPs).
- Ensure compliance with Australian grid codes and support continuous model and control scheme improvements.
- Represent NHOA in industry committees and technical working groups.
Requirements
What You'll Bring
Qualifications & Experience
- MSc in Automation or Electrical Engineering (PhD in Power System Control preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in power systems (PhD duration may be considered).
- Hands-on experience with grid interconnection processes in Australia (GPS and Grid Codes).
- Proficient in at least two tools: PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, EMTP-RV, or PSS/E.
- Python scripting knowledge and understanding of inverter-based controls and grid-forming technologies.
- Must have the right to work permanently in Australia.
Bonus Points For
- Prior negotiations with AEMO, TNSPs, clients, and consultants.
- Familiarity with protection coordination, harmonic and stability analysis.
