Disability Support Worker – SIL House (24/7 Shifts, 3–4 Days On)

Location: Nambour

Employment Type: Casual

Shift Pattern: 24-hour shifts, 3–4 consecutive days per roster cycle

Client Group: 3 male participants with varying support needs

We are seeking a mature male support worker with strong emotional intelligence and a calm, grounded presence to join our team in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home. This role involves providing consistent, trauma-informed support to three male residents living with mental health challenges.

You'll be part of a care environment that values psychological safety, respectful boundaries, and collaborative wellbeing. The ideal candidate is reliable, intuitive, and confident in navigating complex emotional landscapes with compassion and clarity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 24/7 support across daily routines, including emotional regulation, medication adherence, meal preparation, and household tasks
  • Build rapport and trust through consistent, respectful engagement
  • Document daily observations, conversations, and incidents with clarity and emotional insight
  • Support participants in adhering to agreed wellbeing plans and safety protocols
  • Respond to behavioural challenges using trauma-informed and person-centred approaches
  • Communicate effectively with participants, families, and the broader support team
  • Uphold NDIS compliance, duty of care, and mental health best practices

Who We're Looking For

  • A mature male support worker with experience in mental health, psychosocial disability, or trauma-informed care
  • Comfortable working 3–4 days in a row on extended shifts
  • Strong documentation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm, present, and responsive in emotionally charged situations
  • Current First Aid, CPR, NDIS Worker Screening, Cert III in Disability.

Bonus Attributes

  • Experience with positive behaviour support or psychosocial recovery models
  • Familiarity with emotionally intelligent communication and de-escalation techniques
  • Willingness to contribute to a co-created, feedback-driven team culture

Job Type: Casual

Pay: From $43.23 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 60 per week
