About the role
We are seeking an FPGA Engineer with strong technical expertise to join the engineering team based in Sydney CBD. You will play a key role in the design and implementation of FPGA based systems, developing advanced digital signal processing and machine learning algorithms that drive next-generation sensing and countermeasure technologies.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop, document, and implement FPGA-based systems for real-time digital signal processing applications.
  • Research and develop optimised RTL implementations of DSP, ML, and statistical algorithms.
  • Implement, verify, and optimise FPGA architectures for performance, accuracy, and stability.
  • Contribute to scaling R&D, development, verification, and validation infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across hardware, software, and systems engineering.

Skills and experience
- Degree in electronics engineering, computer engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
- At least two years of commercial FPGA design and development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Verilog, VHDL, or System Verilog for design, debugging, and verification.
- Experience with FPGA toolchains such as Vivado, Quartus, or Vitis.
- Skilled in timing closure, synthesis, and resource-constrained FPGA optimisation.
- Experience developing high-throughput, low-latency FPGA architectures.
- Familiarity with C/C++ firmware and Python scripting.
- Experience working in a Linux environment.
- Background in digital signal processing and/or RF systems is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of machine learning concepts for FPGA implementation would be an advantage.
