This is a pivotal role blending deep technical design with team leadership and strategic influence.About The RoleYou'll lead the FPGA & DSP Engineering group, guiding the design and development of cutting-edge signal processing systems for high-bandwidth RF applications. The position balances technical management and hands-on design, making it ideal for an engineer who thrives at both the system and silicon levels.In This Role, You Will:Technical LeadershipLead a multidisciplinary FPGA & DSP Engineering team developing complex embedded systems using modern Agile practices.Plan and allocate tasks aligned with company priorities and evolving technical objectives.Conduct quarterly planning sessions, maintain project forecasts, and provide progress updates to senior management.Mentor engineers through regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and structured development plans.Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, software, and systems teams to standardise best practices.Individual ContributionArchitect and implement FPGA and DSP solutions for high-bandwidth, low-latency radio systems.Develop complex multi-FPGA architectures and MPSoC-based systems for real-time wideband RF signal processing (>1GHz).Implement digital signal processing and machine learning algorithms in FPGA and embedded environments.Build and optimise automated verification, validation, and CI/CD frameworks.Write and debug C/C++ firmware and Python scripts for build, testing, and automation workflows.Perform hands-on debugging, hardware bring-up, and system-level validation on embedded boards.Qualifications & ExperienceDegree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.3+ years of professional FPGA/DSP development experience in a high-performance hardware environment.Proven expertise with Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog and FPGA tools (Vivado preferred, Quartus or Vitis acceptable).Strong grasp of digital signal processing fundamentals and implementation within FPGA environments.Experience developing high-throughput, low-latency FPGA pipelines and automated verification frameworks.Proficiency with C/C++, Python, and Linux-based development environments.Familiarity with PCB schematics, RF systems, and board-level debugging.Working understanding of RF principles, transmission protocols, and embedded ML concepts.You Might Thrive in This Role If You:Enjoy leading and mentoring engineers while remaining hands-on with complex technical challenges.Are passionate about pushing the limits of FPGA performance in real-world defence or industrial applications.Have a strong appreciation for disciplined engineering, precision timing, and low-level optimisation.Want to be part of a fast-scaling Australian technology company with a global footprint.This is a rare opportunity to lead innovation at the intersection of AI, RF, and FPGA technology -helping to build systems that make the world safer and more connected.Reach out to to learn more.
