Are you a well-connected, ambitious Business Development Manager (BDM) ready to pivot your experience in machinery sales into the world of auctions? We are a leading global auction house, and we're seeking a strategic BDM to command the vital Western Australian market.
Based in Welshpool, WA, your focus will be on sourcing and securing high-value machinery and heavy equipment consignments from key players in the Mining, Engineering, and Manufacturing sectors. If you thrive on generating deal flow, managing high-stakes relationships, and earning big commissions, this is your next challenge.
The Role:
Business Development Manager
Operating from our Welshpool facility, you will be the face of our company to asset owners and disposal managers across Western Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Asset Sourcing & Consignment; Identify and secure machinery, plant, and equipment for auction from WA corporations, mining houses, engineering firms, transport fleets, and asset finance companies.
- Develop an extensive network of contacts from Fleet Managers and CFOs to Plant Managers—to ensure a consistent, high-value pipeline of surplus equipment for sale.
- Work closely with our specialist appraisal team to provide sellers with clear, compelling, and professional consignment proposals, fee structures, and market-based expected returns.
- Market Leadership: Become the recognised expert in asset disposal for the WA heavy industry, leveraging market knowledge to advise clients on optimal sales timing and channels.
- Negotiate and finalise consignment agreements, focusing on securing exclusive, high-value contracts critical to our auction success.
What you bring
- 5 years of proven sales or business development experience in heavy machinery, capital equipment, or industrial products, ideally with exposure to the Mining, Engineering, or Manufacturing sectors.
- A pre-existing professional network within the WA industrial landscape is highly regarded.
- High commercial acumen and a understanding of asset life cycles, valuation, and disposal methods.
- Exceptional ability to build trust and rapport with senior corporate stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, excellent organisational skills, and proficiency with CRM systems.
- Valid Australian Driver's License and willingness to undertake regional travel as needed.
