Are you a strategic thinker with a flair for communication and a passion for public service? An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Executive Officer to support executive leadership within a high-profile regulatory agency focused on animal welfare and industry integrity.

About the Role

As the Executive Officer, you will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Commissioner, delivering high-level executive, secretariat, and project support. This is a pivotal role where you'll manage critical communications, contribute to policy and strategic planning, and drive outcomes that align with the organisation's mission to promote welfare, transparency, and public confidence in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and draft high-level communications including briefings, reports, and submissions
  • Liaise with stakeholders and executive leaders, ensuring timely and accurate responses to requests
  • Support implementation and reporting on strategic and operational plans
  • Research and prepare advice on complex policy and planning matters
  • Lead or contribute to projects aligned with strategic objectives
  • Provide issues management and ensure minimal risk through proactive problem-solving

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to prepare persuasive, clear, and concise content
  • Experience advising and supporting executives or working in a policy, project, or regulatory environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
  • High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in a government, regulatory, legal, or animal welfare-focused organisation
  • Proven success in influencing outcomes and supporting executive decision-making
  • Adept at managing sensitive issues with diplomacy and confidentiality
  • Familiarity with public sector reporting, project management, or integrity-based governance frameworks
