Position: Financial Accountant
Work Type: Remote
Why Join the Lumiere Foundation?
Lumiere Foundation is a registered Australian charity supporting people facing life's toughest challenges. We work across eight areas: at-risk youth, family violence, disability, ageing, homelessness, mental health, substance use, and housing insecurity.
We provide the skilled workforce behind essential community care services. Every team member plays a role in delivering high-quality, personalised care, helping people live with dignity, safety, and purpose, creating brighter futures, one day at a time.
About the Role
We are seeking a high-performing Financial Accountant (CPA or CA qualified) to be the engine room of the finance team at the Lumiere Foundation and its related entities.
You will manage core accounting execution, transactional processing, month-end close, reconciliations and compliance reporting, and ensure financial data is accurate, auditable and ready for consolidation. You'll maintain clean ledgers, tight controls and high-quality working papers for Financial Controller review.
This role suits someone who enjoys complex multi-entity accounting, takes pride in getting the numbers right the first time, and delivers work to a standard that stands up to audit and scrutiny.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Transactional accounting & GL accuracy: Manage AP/AR, coding, approvals, journals, and daily bank reconciliations across multiple entities.
· Month-end close: Run the close process, balance sub-ledgers, finalise reconciliations, and deliver accurate trial balances on time.
· Balance sheet control & consolidation: Own balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, depreciation, inter-entity loans, eliminations, and consolidation packs.
· Systems & data integrity: Administer finance systems, resolve posting issues, and maintain a clean audit trail.
· Compliance & audit support: Prepare BAS, PAYG and super schedules, compile audit workpapers, and coordinate audit requests.
· Team support & quality review: Guide global finance team members on coding and process standards, and review transactional work before Financial Controller sign-off.
What You'll Bring to the Role
· Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce, and CPA or CA qualification (essential).
· Experience: 5–8 years of hands-on accounting experience, including leadership responsibility and exposure to growing or scaling organisations.
· Technical capability: Strong understanding of cost allocation, multi-entity structures and accounting standards, with a proven track record maintaining accurate ledgers and audit-ready workpapers.
· Systems expertise: Proficiency in Xero and advanced Excel skills (required). Experience with NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Sage is highly regarded.
· Sector knowledge: Experience in the Not-for-Profit sector and familiarity with the SCHADS Award is highly regarded.
· Checks & eligibility: Australian citizen, permanent resident, or unrestricted work rights, and able to pass a Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
If you're confident in multi-entity accounting and deliver work that stands up to audit scrutiny, apply now. If you have any questions, please contact the Lumiere Foundation recruitment team
