
Senior NOC Operator

The Senior NOC Operator will, in a 24x7 environment, monitor the integrity of all the services maintained by BAI Communications Australia by responding to alarms, applying technical expertise and communicating with key stakeholders (such as our field teams and customers) to effectively and efficiently manage Service Level Agreements. A L2 Operator will be able to operate as a first in maintainer and assist with the management of a shift.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Monitor and triage incoming alarms from multiple Network Management Systems and Broadcast Multiview Systems
- Record impacts on managed services, applying strong written skills to capture incident details and actions clearly, concisely and accurately.
- Take a forensic approach to event and incident management, applying knowledge of broadcast systems and theory, as well as operational processes and practices to identify potential root causes.
- Provide overflow operator support for customer and reception queries, NOTAM lodgement, change requests, site access requests, electronic key programming, capital city service transfers and customer head-end switches.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of contractual requirements, as well as strong written and verbal skills to communicate and escalate OLA/SLA breaches, event details and actions to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support First-In Maintenance functions for the Gore Hill transmission site, applying intermediate technical broadcast knowledge in the resolution of service outages.
- Apply advanced knowledge of engineering schematics and equipment logs to aid identification of root cause analyses.
- Manage escalated and complex incidents to resolution and take ownership of end-end communication to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide support (where required) to the NOC Team Leader
ABOUT YOU
- Experience working with broadcast hardware and software.
- Knowledge of broadcast fundamentals and electronic theory.
- Experience working with large volumes of data in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience in a customer service-focused, operational and/or technical environment.
- Ability to interpret, analyse and action alarms from network management systems
- Ability to raise clear and concise records in service management systems.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports using MS Office 365 suite.
- Knowledge of online technical resources and ability to read engineering schematics
- Tertiary Qualification in Network/Electronic/Electrical Engineering or appropriate experience will be highly regarded
- ITIL certification is preferred but not mandatory
