Context

The NOC Engineer is responsible for Level 1 incident and fault management within the Sydney Trains DTRS network, working as part of a 24/7/365 shift team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager – Communications and functionally to the Network Operations Manager, this role ensures high network availability by coordinating daily preventative maintenance activities, responding promptly to incidents, and meeting contracted KPIs. The NOC Engineer engages with clients, SYSTRA teams, and various stakeholders to resolve faults, support technical documentation, and continually improve service quality.

Missions/Main Duties

About the role

- Monitor and manage network incidents and faults; escalate as required.
- Use tools such as SAP, EMC Smarts, and NMS applications for incident resolution and reporting.
- Collaborate with field technicians, SYSTRA teams, and clients to maintain high network availability.
- Contribute to technical documentation and continuous service improvement.
- Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, and client focus.
- Conduct routine system health checks and manage maintenance activities.
- Uphold company standards in quality, safety, and business processes.

Profile/Skills

About you

- Minimum 5 years’ experience in cellular network NOC and customer support (GSM 2G preferred).
- Proficient with Huawei & Nokia RAN, core and transmission equipment in 2G/4G/5G cellular networks.
- Proficient with network logfile, call trace and events analysis.
- Proficient with Huawei BTS equipment, network statistics and configuration.
- Understanding of GSM-R rail telecommunications, cyber security, and virtualized network solutions.
