CAPS Australia, a division of the global powerhouse Ingersoll Rand, is seeking a skilled and proactive Purchasing Officer to join our team in Welshpool. With a proud history dating back to 1980 and a national footprint of ten branches, CAPS is a trusted name in delivering innovative compressed air and power generation solutions to industrial and manufacturing clients across Australia.

About the Role

As our Purchasing Officer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of machinery, components, and services. You'll manage inventory levels, negotiate supplier contracts, and expedite orders to support our fast-paced operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement & Supplier Management

    Source and purchase machinery, components, and services aligned with operational needs.

    Build strong supplier relationships and negotiate favorable terms.
  • Inventory Control

    Monitor stock levels of fast-moving parts and collaborate with internal teams to forecast demand.

    Implement systems to optimise inventory turnover and reduce holding costs.
  • Order Processing & Expediting

    Accurately process purchase orders and track deliveries.

    Resolve discrepancies and ensure timely supply to avoid operational delays.
  • Compliance & Performance Monitoring

    Evaluate supplier performance and ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards.

    Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
What You'll Bring
  • Proven experience in purchasing or procurement, ideally in industrial or engineering sectors
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Solid understanding of inventory management and ERP systems
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related field (preferred)
  • Procurement certification (e.g., CIPS) is a plus
