Casual Town Planner (NSW)

Remote | 4–10 hours per week

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Town Planner to join our team on a casual, fully remote basis. This role offers flexible hours and the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of planning projects across New South Wales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret Local Environmental Plans (LEPs), Development Control Plans (DCPs), and State Environmental Planning Policies (SEPPs).
  • Assess and interpret architectural drawings and plans.
  • Assist with the preparation of documentation for Development Applications (DA) and Complying Development Certificates (CDC).
  • Liaise with NSW councils and government authorities, or demonstrate a willingness to learn the processes involved.
  • Provide planning advice and input into project compliance and approvals.

About You:

  • Currently living in Australia.
  • Experienced in NSW planning legislation and frameworks (LEP/DCP/SEPP).
  • Confident in reading and analysing architectural and site plans.
  • Proactive, reliable, and capable of working independently without direct supervision.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.

Position Details:

  • Casual engagement, with workload averaging 4–10 hours per week.
  • Fully remote role – work from anywhere in Australia.
  • Ideal for an experienced planner seeking flexibility or a skilled graduate looking to broaden their experience.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning, Town Planning, or a related discipline (essential).
  • Eligibility for membership with the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NSW planning legislation, including LEPs, DCPs, and SEPPs.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and site plans.
  • Prior experience liaising with local councils on DA/CDC processes, or a strong willingness to learn quickly.
  • Proficiency in written communication, with the ability to prepare clear planning reports and correspondence.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks independently while working remotely.
