Zeel Kitchens is a market leader in the Perth apartment fit out space. Partnering with some of the largest construction companies in Australia, we successfully complete hundreds of apartments each year. We also work closely with some smaller boutique builders & renovation companies completing kitchen, bathroom and joinery projects.
We are currently seeking a Project Manager in our Commercial Division for an immediate.
The Project Manager for Commerical Projects (PM) will lead commercial joinery projects from award through to post-completion, ensuring seamless coordination across drafting, production, site, logistics, and client teams. The Project Manager is accountable for delivering projects on time, within budget, and to Zeel's quality standards—while maintaining clear communication, proactive issue resolution, and client satisfaction.
A Motor vehicle will also be provided.
Job tasks and responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for each project from client handover to 12-month defect resolution.
- Maintain oversight of scope, budget, timeline, and quality at all stages.
- Ensure stakeholders are aligned and well-informed throughout the project lifecycle.
Project Programming & Scheduling
- Develop, maintain, and adjust detailed project programs, including milestones, team deliverables, and site dates.
- Coordinate with Project Coordinator, Drafting, Production, Logistics, Site Team and Installers to ensure internal and external schedules are aligned.
- Issue site/delay notices if progress is hindered, ensuring accountability from builders/clients.
- Find proactive ways to lead the client to a win/win outcome always.
- Prepare production schedules and logistics in advance to avoid delays, especially for materials with long lead times.
Site Management Enablement
- Provide Site Managers with clear scopes, timelines, and escalation pathways.
- Ensure daily site visibility, task ownership, and proactive defect resolution.
- Support site teams with tools, structured handovers, and decision pathways to reduce ambiguity.
- Attend subcontractor and client meetings, ensuring Zeel's interests are represented.
- Conduct weekly (sometimes daily) site visits to maintain clear communication and early issue identification.
Client & Builder Communication
- Act as the primary contact for clients and builders, providing timely updates and managing expectations.
- Maintain professional conduct across phone, email, and in-person interactions—representing Zeel with integrity.
- Anticipate site needs and provide updates before they are requested.
Financial & Resource Management
- Manage project and installation budgets weekly to prevent overruns.
- Review and approve installer invoices and subcontractor costs.
- Source and negotiate with suppliers to ensure costs are competitive and within budget.
Quality Assurance & Defects
- Ensure accurate site measuring of all units.
- QA all installed work within 48 hours of completion by site team.
- Manage defect rectification as a matter of priority and oversee post-PC defect resolution up to 12 months.
- Ensure defect-free handovers to clients and builders.
Reporting & Systems
- Keep Jobman up to date daily with progress, variations, and scheduling updates.
- Provide weekly reports and budget updates to the GM/Operations Manager.
- Raise issues early and provide clear solutions.
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to refining SOPs, decision tools, and workflows.
- Mentor junior staff and support training initiatives.
- Identify inefficiencies and propose practical solutions.
Skills and experience
- Proven project management experience in joinery, cabinetmaking, or construction.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Systems-oriented mindset—comfortable with SOPs, scheduling software, and structured processes.
- Calm under pressure with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
