About the Role

GA Fire is seeking a full-time Fire/Smoke Door Service Technician to join our team in Melbourne. This hands-on role involves servicing, maintaining, and repairing fire and smoke doors across a variety of commercial and industrial properties. Your work will directly contribute to the safety and compliance of essential fire protection systems.

This position is well suited to qualified Carpenters looking to transition into a specialised trade. Prior experience in fire/smoke door servicing is preferred but not essential—we value practical skills, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Conduct regular inspections, servicing, and maintenance of fire and smoke doors
  • Identify and rectify faults or issues with door systems
  • Replace worn or damaged components to restore functionality
  • Maintain detailed service records and condition reports
  • Liaise with customers to schedule visits and provide updates
  • Ensure all work meets safety and compliance standards
  • Support the team with project work and ad-hoc tasks as needed

What We're Looking For

  • Trade experience highly regarded (preferred but not critical)
  • Experience as a fire/smoke door technician (preferred but not critical)
  • Strong technical aptitude and fault-finding skills
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals, drawings, and schematics
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to travel to client sites
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards
