About the Opportunity

The Older Persons Community Mental Health Service is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Clinician to step into a pivotal leadership role within our Older Person's Mental Health team. This is a chance to lead with both head and heart—bringing your clinical expertise, empathy, and insight to guide a diverse, multidisciplinary team in delivering care that is person-centred, evidence-informed, and grounded in recovery principles.

The role provides advanced clinical expertise, leadership, and coordination in the delivery of high-quality mental health services to older people (65+ or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people 50+) experiencing complex mental health issues. The role supports recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and culturally safe care across community, residential, and inpatient settings.

What You'll be Doing

As a senior clinician provide leadership, mentorship and supervision, to ensure the delivery of evidence-based, strengths focused, recovery orientated assessment and treatment within a multi-disciplinary team. Carry a clinical caseload, appropriate to the needs of the service.

Where You'll Be Working

SWSLHD Community Mental Health Services provide comprehensive, community-based mental health care across South Western Sydney.

These services cater to different age groups, including children, adolescents, adults, and older persons, ensuring specialised care throughout various life stages. The multidisciplinary teams offer a range of supports, including mental health assessments, crisis intervention, care coordination, and therapy. They work closely with inpatient services, GPs, and other community organisations to provide holistic care.

  • Relevant qualifications as an Occupational Therapist currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or qualified Social Worker eligible for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Can you describe your approach to assessing and managing mental health conditions in older adults, particularly those with cognitive impairment or dementia?
  • Can you describe your approach to supporting and supervising junior clinicians within a multidisciplinary team, particularly in the context of older people's mental health?
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
