Are you a CA/CPA qualified accountant with 3+ years of experience looking for a broad, high-impact role with exposure to senior leaders in one of Australia's largest and most diverse private family businesses?
Spotlight Group Holdings (SGH), a $3bn+ privately held Australian parent company, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Accountant (referred to as Group Accountant in the duties) to join our dynamic Group Finance team. This is an exceptional opportunity to drive financial excellence and contribute to the strategic growth of a multi-faceted organisation with significant domestic and international operations.
What You'll Do: The Impact
As a crucial member of the Group Finance team, you'll be the linchpin in ensuring timely, accurate, and effective financial information delivery to shareholders and stakeholders. This is a hands-on role requiring end-to-end execution, autonomy, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Group Reporting & Consolidation: Coordinate the business-wide financial consolidation reporting, including the monthly submission of P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow for key stakeholders.
- Cash Flow Management: Prepare and contribute to the detailed and accurate SGH operational cash flow forecast by collaborating with finance teams across all business pillars and Treasury.
- Compliance & Policy: Support the Group's various financial and tax compliance requirements (domestic and international) and actively review and support the application of Group accounting policies across SRG, SPG, and SGI.
- Analysis & Insights: Prepare, review, and analyse financial data from all three pillars, identifying trends, financial risks, cost-benefits, and areas for operational, compliance, and tax improvement.
- Strategic Support: Assist and contribute to the preparation of Group board papers and presentations (TACL, Superannuation, Cashflow, SGH, etc.) and prepare timely ad hoc financial reports and models for strategic decision-making.
- Process Improvement: Identify and recommend improvements for consolidated financial processes, including leveraging technology for automation and streamlining systems.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong, cross-functional relationships with key stakeholders, including Family Shareholders, Managing Director, CFO, HR, and Payroll, providing essential support and information for financial strategies.
- Special Projects: Actively participate in Group tender and due diligence projects as required.
- Mentorship & Development: Provide guidance to staff on financial reporting and operations, promoting professional growth, and stay informed on industry best practices and regulatory changes.
What You'll Bring: Your Expertise
You're an initiative-taker with a 'can-do' attitude who can self-motivate and drive outcomes with excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Essential Experience & Capabilities:
- Qualification: CA/CPA qualification with 3+ years' post-qualification experience.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in financial management and operational finance. Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial ERP platforms.
- Entity Structures: Proven experience working with different legal entity structures (Trusts, Partnerships, Companies, Superannuation Funds).
- System Driven: Experience in using and driving technology for automation and streamlining of systems and processes.
- Stakeholder Management: Exceptional oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to drive engagement with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Mindset: A strong team player who can work autonomously, implement best practices, and role model SGH Values.
