Belrose, New South Wales, Australia Incat Crowther Full time $120,000 - $160,000 per year

We're seeking dynamic Project Assurance Managers to take the lead on high-profile, global shipbuilding projects. At Incat Crowther, you won't just be overseeing vessels – you'll be driving outcomes that shape the future of maritime innovation. From the shipyard floor to international delivery, this role puts you at the centre of complex, challenging, and rewarding projects where your expertise will make a real impact.

With the expansion of our Project Assurance Department, these are new roles, reporting to the Project Assurance Director.

As Project Assurance Manager, you'll be hands-on with:

  • Overseeing and objectively assessing project performance across construction, quality, and operational efficiency
  • Leading and supervising multi-disciplinary teams, including contractors, to ensure vessel delivery meets schedule, budget, and specification requirements
  • Driving adherence to Incat Crowther's project assurance governance, processes, and methodologies
  • Engaging with stakeholders — including builders, owners, operators, government, and industrial representatives — to manage expectations and ensure project objectives are met
  • Facilitating and chairing consultation programs in complex stakeholder environments
  • Developing and implementing risk management and change management strategies to mitigate operational, technical and industrial risks
  • Monitoring compliance with WHS legislation, ISO standards, Class and Flag State rules and contractor management systems
  • Maintaining accurate contract documentation, ensuring project outcomes align with design intent and minimise unexpected variations
  • Providing expert engineering input and solutions to resolve technical challenges and deliver integrated project outcomes

Role Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a strong leader and communicator with excellent technical and project delivery expertise. We're looking for someone who brings:

  • A degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, Project Management, or a related discipline
  • Significant experience in large-scale shipbuilding, defence, infrastructure, or similarly complex, high-risk projects
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage diverse stakeholder groups, including government and industry bodies
  • Strong understanding of project assurance governance, contract management, and quality systems
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and mitigate risks (technical, financial, and industrial)
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to lead in politically sensitive environments
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with excellent attention to detail
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency
  • Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally as required in support of project delivery

Benefits

  • A global role with the opportunity to contribute to projects across Australia and abroad
  • Permanent, full-time position based in Sydney's Northern Beaches or Tasmania
  • Work with an industry-leading design and engineering firm delivering world-class vessels worldwide
  • Career growth and real opportunities, including international exposure through our US and UK offices
  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
  • Work-life balance with flexible working arrangements, free onsite gym, and a friendly, active team culture
  • Regular social and team-building activities, from soccer matches to BBQs

Applications

At Incat Crowther, we value experience, motivation, and commitment above all else. We are an equal opportunity employer and encourage applications from professionals with a passion for delivering high-quality outcomes in the maritime sector.

If this sounds like your next challenge, don't delay — applications will be reviewed as they are received. Please submit a one-page cover letter outlining your skills and experience, along with your resume.
