W. Short Hospitality owns and operates The Royal Leichhardt and The Australian Heritage Hotel, located in The Rocks.

Are You Ready to Lead From the Front?

The Royal Leichhardt is actively seeking an enthusiastic Operations Manager to join our leadership team. As a key player, you will report directly to the General Manager, taking charge of the day-to-day operations of our lively venue.

What Does the Role Look Like?

  • Ensuring service quality, implementing procedures, maintaining cash control, and upholding high standards of customer experience.
  • Actively participating in and running both team and management meetings.
  • Managing labor costs through effective rostering.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Providing training and development opportunities for our dedicated team.
  • Managing deliveries, overseeing stock orders, and reporting on monthly stocktakes.
  • Planning and promoting special events to enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Managing the cleaning schedule and ensuring overall venue compliance.
  • Adhering to WHS procedures, creating a safe workspace, and ensuring prompt incident reporting.

The Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have the capacity to work independently as well as in a team environment.

You will have exceptional time management, strong communication and be a resourceful leader.

Gaming and TAB experience is essential, as well as exceptional cash handling skills, experience working with CRT & Global, and a valid RSA and ARCG.

You will need to have flexibility with rostered hours - the venue trades until 4am 6 nights of the week.

Ideally you will have some exposure to dining / restaurant service or a passion for restaurant style customer service that can add value in strengthening our business standards.

About you

To thrive in this role, you'll need to be an experienced Operations Manager or hold a similar 2IC position for at least 2 years. Your strong understanding of financial principles, coupled with your passion for mentorship, will set you apart. A proactive, positive attitude, along with organizational and negotiation skills, is essential.
