About the Role

We're seeking a highly capable Engineering Manager to drive innovation and integration across complex ICT and cloud environments for Defence. This position provides strategic technical leadership, guiding the design, development & delivery of enterprise-scale cloud and IT systems. The role blends hands-on systems engineering and architecture with team leadership, ensuring technical solutions align with organisational objectives and Defence-grade standards.

  • This is a longterm contract role with promising outlook of 3x 12 month extensions
  • Canberra based only
  • Must have an
    NV2 Clearance
    , or higher to be considered

About You

  • 10-15 years experience in a technical leadership/management position - coming from a 'hands-on' career background
  • Proven experience leading cloud and IT systems engineering projects (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Strong background in DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & cloud security
  • Demonstrated leadership in technical strategy and engineering management
  • Degree in Computer Science, IT Systems Engineering, or related discipline
  • Strong knowledge & experience with Defence ICT frameworks highly regarded
  • NV2 Security Clearance
  • Canberra based

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of enterprise cloud and IT solution architectures
  • Oversee system design and integration across cloud, legacy & emerging technologies
  • Direct engineering teams across cloud infrastructure, DevOps & security domains
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation & capability uplift across engineering functions
  • Develop and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks aligned to business strategy
  • Ensure system interoperability, security compliance & operational resilience
  • Collaborate closely with project and technical teams to deliver secure, reliable solutions
