Primary objective

Support the implementation of regional development programs, projects and industry development strategies within the Northern

Territory, engaging a variety of stakeholders to increase the effectiveness of tourism planning and development.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Maintain a high level of collaboration and proactively strengthen working relationships with industry stakeholders including

Regional Tourism Organisations, local government councils and tourism operators.

2. Facilitate a range of consultations for stakeholders and client groups to inform regional tourism projects, development priorities

and key tourism and sector strategies as required.

1. Undertake research and prepare briefings across a range of issues impacting on the visitor economy of a region.
2. Support implementation of key regional development initiatives in the Visitor Economy Strategy 2032 and other strategies as

appropriate.

5. Work collaboratively across the Department of Tourism and Hospitality, wider government and private sector to influence

positive results for all regions.

1. Undertake planning and associated administrative functions that support the delivery of tourism development projects.
2. Provide administrative and project support, including through government systems (GrantsNT, Microsoft Suite and financial

management systems).

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated experience in the NT's tourism industry, with an understanding of its products and attractions.

2. Able to clearly articulate the Northern Territory tourism environment and its competitive development position in the domestic

and international tourism arena.

3. Broad understanding of planning and approval requirements and how they impact regional and/or tourism development.

4. Demonstrated initiative and ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work independently as well as part of a

team.

1. Well-developed written and oral communication skills, including public speaking and negotiation skills, and demonstrated ability

to build rapport with stakeholders.

6. Strong administrative skills and demonstrated experience in contributing to the planning and implementation of projects.

7. Demonstrated high level computer literacy and knowledge of various office software packages and their application.

Desirable

1. An understanding of Parliamentary and government agency processes.

2. Tertiary qualification in a related field.

At times, this position requires travel to remote areas and work outside of standard office hours.
