Primary objective

Coordinate a diverse range of high-level policy development and project management activities and provide related support

to facilitate the successful development of projects and delivery of the division's goals.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Develop policy and procedures to ensure guidance remains relevant and supports divisional, agency and Government

obligations, initiatives and commitments.

  1. Provide high quality, timely and accurate policy, project management and procedural advice and prepare a range of

related correspondence.

3. Manage projects, including the coordination of working groups, committees and consultation partners.

4. Undertake a diverse range of project planning and management services including monitoring, tracking and reporting on

established milestones, the status of project deliverables and / or whole of division project progress to ensure that

outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope.

  1. Develop collaborative partnerships with staff and stakeholders and consult as needed to identify issues, service gaps and

development opportunities, exchange information and access expert knowledge to inform project plans and outcomes.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated research and analytical skills, supported by the ability to use a variety of systems and sources to gather

information and identify emerging trends or issues.

2. Experience in developing, interpreting and applying legislation, policy and procedures etc., and a good working knowledge

of principles and processes relating to the review and development of policies, customer service standards and

continuous improvement principles, preferably in the context of protected area management.

  1. Well-developed problem-solving skills, ability to use sound judgement and apply lateral thinking to identify and resolve

issues, including ability to discern when to escalate concerns.

  1. Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and high-level stakeholder engagement experience

to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships, including with people from diverse cultures, and to work

effectively as part of a team as well as independently.

  1. Demonstrated experience in preparation of a range of high-level correspondence, such as memoranda, Ministerial Briefs

and discussion papers, with advanced skills in computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets,

presentation software and email to manage the monitoring and reporting requirements of the role.

  1. Demonstrated high level project leadership and management skills, including strong organisational and time management

skills, with the ability to multi-task and deliver within timeframes, with strong attention to detail and quality control.
