This recruitment pool will run for a period of twelve (12) months and may be used to fill ongoing fixed term contracts.
Currently, there is one (1) fixed term contract available for filling in early 2026.

About The Role
The Senior Policy Officer supports the Public Advocate who is statutory officer appointed under the Guardianship and Administration Act 1990. The Office of the Public Advocate provides advocacy and investigation, and guardianship services, and community education about the Act and its protections for adults with a decision-making disability.
The Senior Policy Officer reports to the Public Advocate and is responsible to:
- provide policy, legislative and stakeholder support to the Public Advocate to deliver Divisional Outcomes
- through policy development and environmental scanning activities, contribute to the provision of advice and information about the impact of Commonwealth and State legislation, policies and programs on people with decision-making disabilities
- maintain collaborative and cooperative internal and external stakeholder relationships and participates in external forums with other departments, both State and Federal as required
- identify and undertake research into current issues and trends that impact on people with decision-making disabilities.

- Ability to establish and maintain constructive replationships with internal and external stakeholders, in order to achieve work goals.
- Demonstrated ability both to work independently and to work effectively within a team.
- Knowledge of financial, personal, medical, lifestyle management issues as they affect people with decision-making disabilities.

Pool Recruitment
This pool will be open for a period of twelve (12) months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Fixed term, full time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.
