The Role
Defence is looking for enthusiastic and talented individuals to join the Strategic Communication Branch.
**Key responsibilities include**:
Providing specialist advice to stakeholders on the drafting, development and implementation of a range of creative and effective communication and media products and activities;
Writing and reviewing high quality communication plans and products for internal and external audiences including talking points, media releases, social media content, fact sheets and articles;
Identifying risks and opportunities within the business environment to produce effective communication solutions;
Working collaboratively with stakeholders to understand priorities and deliver business outcomes;
Ensuring alignment of communication products with established policies and standards;
Understanding your Group or Service's activities and contribution to planning and forecasting events and communication opportunities for our Ministers and Executive.
Defence is seeking to fill immediate vacancies in Defence People Group, Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment and Air Force. A merit pool will be established to fill future vacancies.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary communication team, you will support our Senior Executive, ensure communication activities are aligned across Defence, and ensure our people, stakeholders and the Australian community understand Defence's mission, purpose and role - and how we are delivering against it.
**We are looking for the following skills**:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to enable successful production of communication plans including talking points, media releases, social media content, fact sheets and articles;
Capacity to build positive, collaborative working relationships across internal and external stakeholders, and to anticipate and respond to their needs and expectations;
Good judgement to manage competing priorities and dead-lines, and to maintain attention to detail;
Capacity to form logical connections of emerging issues across the enterprise;
Collaborative skills to operate effectively within a team environment and make a positive contribution to team culture; and
Initiative, flexibility and a demonstrated capacity to solve problems under pressure.
